Amal Clooney

At LèMert, we’re ever inspired by brave and intelligent women around the globe. With a team of international, well-traveled women working on powerful garments, we are motivated by a range of diverse forces. Here’s to our faves! This time, our spotlight is on Amal Clooney.

Who is Amal Clooney?

In our blog about the women we admire, we mentioned her already. Amal Clooney. Not only is she one of the most respected human rights lawyers in the world she is also a Fashion icon, who happens to be married to actor George Clooney.

Amal Clooney is anything but ordinary. Born in Lebanon, she and her family fled the country because of the war in 1982. The fact that she came to England as a refugee is something she expresses during her humanitarian works when she visits refugees. “My family also ran away from a war and were lucky enough to be accepted by a European country in 1982 when the violence there was really bad," she said during a visit in Berlin with Syrian refugees.

Growing up in the United Kingdom, Amal Clooney obtained her BA degree in Jurisprudence from St Hugh's College, Oxford. From there she went to the New York University School of Law to get her Master of Law degree.

Why do we admire her?

Amal is qualified to work as a lawyer in the US and the UK and practiced at international courts such as the International Court of Justice in The Hague, making it her mission to help refugees everywhere. Next, to this, Amal is a professor on human rights at Columbia Law School. Together with her husband, she owns the Clooney Foundation for Justice to advance justice around the world. She is true humanitarian at heart.

In between all these high-profile cases, she still has the time to look impeccable everywhere she goes. She is one of the biggest style icons of the moment. Whether she inside or outside of the court every outfit she wears is on point!

We feel that Amal would be beautiful in our Reina white shirt dress. She could wear it out with her kids, but also while vacationing with the family in Italy or even to a red-carpet event with bold accessories! And what about the human T-shirt. Well, actually our whole collection would look good on her!
