As you approach the New Year, it is time to reflect on what went well or not in 2021 and create your list of wishes and goals for 2022. Sometimes it’s useful to write things down to keep on track, and a vision board is the perfect way to help you visualize what your life will look like on the journey to success and once you have achieved it.
Think About What You Want
The first and most important part of the process is to think about what it is you actually want. The focus of your vision board should be something that is measurable, achievable and personal to you. It doesn’t matter if it is for a professional or personal goal, a vision board will help you focus on what you want to make it a reality. It can also break down your goals into bite size targets meaning that that big thing you’ve been planning for ages is so much easier to achieve.
Have Fun Creating your Board!
It’s easier to stick to your goals when you’re having fun along the way! Creating your board is just the start! The process of selecting your materials for the board, collecting images and inspirational quotes, and putting it all together with some motivational music as you work is a great way to get you excited for the journey to come! Your board can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be, the most important thing is to enjoy the process!
Find a Great Location
How many times have you said to yourself that you want to achieve something only to forget as you get swept up in your day to day life? Keeping your goals within sight helps to keep them fresh in your mind! So once you’ve finished your board, be sure to place it in a prominent location where it will be seen every day. If you’ve set timescales on your goals, keep a diary of things you’ve done each day to get to the end results. Remember to update your vision board as you add ideas, achieve and expand on your goals. You vision board is something that can grow with you, and as you reach milestones feel free to add more as you move on to the next step.
Expect to Fail Along the Way, Learn From the Struggles
The path is rarely easy to achieve what we really want, which is why we usually lose motivation so easily. Yet when you create a vision board, you can see what you have achieved and open your mind to different ways of working that can open new doors and create more opportunities along the way. As we grow throughout the process of getting to our destination, we may change our target completely or learn more about ourselves and that we can achieve much more than we originally thought!
We’ve already started on our vision boards for 2022, now it’s time for you to get started as you end 2021 ready for a new start and a new you!
